THE FOLLOWING STEPS ARE REQUIRED FOR ALL ADULTS

Step 1: PRE-ENTRANCE - APPLICATION and PRE-ENROLLMENT ORIENTATION
For all prospective adults students

Prospective adult students will attend a pre-enrollment orientation at 2:30 p.m. in the Seminar Center of the Automotive Technology Center located at 4901 S. Bryant Avenue on one of the following dates:

During orientation, prospective students will receive updated program information and information on the new selection process.  Admissions   is now competitive and is based upon a points system.  Acceptance into the program is not guaranteed.  Students may apply and see if they are accepted.  The deadline to apply for the March 2011 classes is December 3, 2010.

After attending the pre-enrollment orientation, the prospective student will be able to complete an application, take the Compass test for admissions, take the Bennett Mechanical Aptitude test, and complete an approved interest survey.  Upon completion of testing, students will meet with an Adult Career Advisor to review their assessment results and complete the necessary paperwork to become an applicant.  There will be a non-refundable $35 enrollment fee which is applied toward tuition.  In addition to testing, students will need to provide a current resume’ showing their employment history, and a high school or college transcript with their Grade Point Average or GED scores, as well as passing TOEFL test results, if those are applicable.

If you have already taken the Compass test from another school and the results are less than 2 years old, you may report to the North or South Enrollment Centers to apply after attending the pre-enrollment orientation.  You must bring your Compass scores with you in order to fill out the application for admissions.  You will still need to take the Bennett Mechanical Aptitude test and complete an interest survey.

Step 2: PRE-ENTRANCE - ASSESSMENT

The assessment you will be given is the ACT Compass. If you would like to learn more about the Compass and even review some sample questions please visit the ACT Compass Test Preparation section of the MetroTech web site. You may also find it helpful to spend some time with our online math refresher course for a review of basic Math, Algebra, Geometry and Percents.

  • All Pre-Entrance tests are given at the following Enrollment Services locations. Please call for an appointment.

  • Call 595-2240 or 595-4772.
  • There is no charge for your initial test; however retests are $5.00 per sub-test.
  • It is necessary to bring $10 cash and a current photo identification card for testing.
  • The Compass test takes approximately 1.5-2 hours to complete. You will also take the Bennett Mechanical Test which should take about 30 minutes.
  • Testing is done on a walk-in basis between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m. and 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m.

Step 3: ENROLLMENT FOR STUDENT'S TRANSFERRING FROM ANOTHER AVIATION PROGRAM OR THE MILITARY

After the applicant has completed assessment and the application, he/she will be scheduled for a very detailed individual meeting with the counselor at the aviation campus.

Transfer from another Oklahoma Technology Center AMT Program:

  • Review our Course Comparison for AMT Schools and follow the directions given to determine how the courses at your current school correspond to the Metro Tech program.
  • If you would like to transfer to Metro Tech after reviewing the comparison, go to Step 1 listed above.
  • If you have a current Compass Test (less than 2 years old), you may bring a copy of it to the Enrollment Centers listed above. Then you will only need to fill out the application, take the Bennett Mechanical Aptitude test, complete an interest survey, and pay the non-refundable $35 enrollment fee.
  • You will be referred by the Adult Career Advisor to call the ACC counselor and schedule a pre-orientation meeting - your start date may vary depending on what you have already completed.
  • You will need to bring verification of all of your completed programs to the pre-orientation meeting.
  • If you are on financial aid, you will need to notify your financial aid representative at your current school AND financial aid at Metro Tech. You may call 595-4437 or 595-2211. It will be your responsibility to coordinate your financial aid.
  • Currently, tuition for Aviation Maintenance is $3.25* per hour. Your tuition will be calculated at your pre-enrollment conference based on the remaining hours that you need to complete at Metro Tech. *This is subject to change.

Transfer Military or other Training to Metro Tech AMT Program:

  • After getting specifics from Pete Lee or Herman Bounds, begin Steps 1 through 6 that are listed on this document for enrollment

 

Step 4: PRE-ORIENTATION MEETING - Aviation Career Campus- 5600 S. MacArthur

When you meet with the counselor at the aviation campus, you will receive:

  • Financial Aid information
  • Tool Lists and Calculator
  • Tuition Payment Agreement
  • Total Cost of Program
  • Books
  • Fill out demographic data form
  • Receive a school calendar
  • Receive the Safety Packet (to be completed by the first day of school)
  • Receive a Metro Tech Handbook
  • Discuss special needs or requests for successful enrollment
  • Short tour of campus
  • Other

 

Step 5: ORIENTATION

Attending Orientation is MANDATORY. Students will not be eligible to start the AMT program without attending ORIENTATION.

All accepted students will be required to attend Orientation scheduled for

September 7, 2010 at 9 a.m. or 4 p.m. for the September 2010 day and evening courses.

(The orientation will last about 1 ½ hours)

All students must attend for:

  • Comments/requirements by Director/Asst. Director
  • Photo IDs taken
  • Agreements signed
  • Presentation of Tool Purchase options
