RENEW Dropout Recovery Program

RENEW is a dropout recovery program at Metro Technology Centers' Metro Career Academy. The program is a partnership between Metro Technology Centers, the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education and the Oklahoma City Public School District. Students, 16-19 years old, who have already dropped out of high school, are eligible for this program. Upon successful completion of the program, students will earn a high school diploma issued through Oklahoma City Public Schools. In addition, students participate in one of Metro Tech's full-time career majors. Students spend half days attending academic courses and half days attending their occupational program.

Students are also instructed in the following life skill competencies:

  • Assessment for basic skills ability, career interests, learning styles and self-concept
  • Group counseling in social skills and individual counseling
  • Character education
  • Computer literacy
  • Pre-employment and employability skills
  • Life skills training: speaking and listening, personal care habits, and positive self-image

School Day Hours
7:30 am to 2:30 pm
Monday through Friday

Students can expect to be in the RENEW program from one to three years depending on how many high school credits they have previously earned. To successfully complete the program, students must meet the state minimum requirements for graduation, as well as the competencies of their chosen occupational program.

There is no charge for the student to enroll in the RENEW program. Metro Technology Centers also provides transportation for students enrolled in a full-time program who live in the attendance area.

Students, along with their parents or guardians and a counselor, assist in developing their own individual learning plans.

Enrollment conferences are held throughout the school year but space in the program is limited. For further information or for an initial interview, please call (405) 595-4319.
