Metro Tech Received Oklahoma Quality Award of Excellence
The Oklahoma Quality Award Foundation (OQAF) awarded Metro Technology Centers the Oklahoma Quality Award for Excellence. Metro Tech was recognized Thursday, December 9, 2010 at the Governor’s Mansion.
The OQAF’s 2010 Award program has three levels; Commitment, Achievement and Excellence. The Award for Excellence is awarded to organizations that, through their practices and achievements, have demonstrated the highest levels of excellence worthy of recognition as outstanding examples of organizations in the State of Oklahoma.
In the year 2000, Metro Tech’s Board of Education approved a plan to follow the Malcolm Baldrige Performance Excellence Program business model for quality improvement. During the past 15 years, Metro Tech has adopted the continuous journey of improvement which builds from data analysis, strategic planning and instructional support. Previous Superintendent Dr. James Branscum, Associate Superintendent/Chief of Staff Dr. Danene Vincent and the Metro Tech Board of Education designed the continuous journey towards excellence and initiated a Performance Excellence Plan through Metro Quest. “We, as an organization, are committed to improving our results,” Branscum said. “The purpose of MetroQuest is to align, deploy, learn and integrate our mission and vision throughout the organization and to our students and stakeholders.”
The Award of Excellence is the highest state-level award that can be earned from OQAF. “This adds us to the list of great benchmark organizations in Oklahoma and allows our students and community to know that we are a quality organization,” Branscum said.
Metro Tech previously received the OQAF Award for Achievement in 2006 and 2008 along with the Award for Commitment in 2001.
