Work-Based Learning Program

work-based learning

Metro Technology Centers’ Work-Based Learning (WBL) Program helps connect local businesses and industry partners to students eligible to go on-site and experience jobs with companies that align with their program of study. Work-Based Learning can include paid and unpaid internships and job shadowing. Full-time programs have elements of WBL embedded in the curriculum. Therefore, teachers have the ultimate authority of managing WBL and authorizing these experiences with appropriate course credit. The Career Services staff works closely with MTC faculty to locate exceptional work-sites that welcome our students. WBL benefits both employers and students, ensuring a talent pipeline of skilled workers comes from Career Tech to the workplace and reinforces and expands students’ classroom learning. Faculty, employers, or students needing assistance with WBL activities can email or request an appointment.
