Metro Tech Health Careers Center (HCC) students applied classroom knowledge and critical-thinking skills during MetroCare Hospital Day on Thursday, January 29.

During the AM session, students observed "surgery" by Dr. Matthew Stanfield, neurosurgeon, and ran through numerous emergency situations with OSU-OKC Paramedic program students where classrooms were set up as mock units including long-term care, radiography, emergency and operating.

Afternoon students responded to a simulated bus crash with approximately 39 students on board. The Oklahoma City Fire Department acted as first responders, offering instruction to Pre-Law Enforcement students on handling media and bystanders during an emergency.

The injured students were transported by OSU students to the mock hospital where HCC students responded to their individualized medical emergencies.
