VISION STATEMENT: All students at Metro Technology Centers are uniquely talented learners who will complete our programs with the knowledge and skills to engage in personal inquiry and growth, practice social responsibility, and maintain academic and career excellence in a diverse and changing world.
MISSION STATEMENT: The mission of the Metro Technology Centers Counseling Department is to advocate for all learners through a student-centered, comprehensive, developmentally appropriate program that helps all students to achieve their highest academic and career goals in addition to supporting their personal and social needs. This is accomplished through collaboration with parents/guardians, staff, industry partners, sending schools, and community resources to enable all students to become successful, productive, contributing students and lifelong learners in a global society.

Kelly Powers is the Director of Counselors for Metro Technology Centers and is the counselor for Law Enforcement Officer Prep and Basic Firefighter students. She received her B.A. in Spanish and International Studies from the University of North Carolina and her M.Ed. in School Counseling from the University of Georgia. Kelly enjoys traveling anywhere and everywhere, and never met a sparkle that she didn’t love.

Leslie Cooksey is the counselor for Health Careers and Cosmetology students. She received her B.S. in Career Tech Education in Business and Marketing from the University of Central Oklahoma and her Masters in School Counseling from East Central University. She enjoys all things leopard print and traveling with her husband, 2 dogs, and baby.

Kim Hansen is the counselor for the Information Technology Center Building, Culinary Arts and Early Childhood Development programs. She received her B.S. in Elementary Education from Oklahoma State University. She is a loyal and true alumni! Her Masters is in Guidance and Counseling which she received from the University of Central Oklahoma. In her free time – who are we kidding, she has a husband, two children, and three dogs – she doesn’t have any free time.

Ryan Patten is in his 7th year as a counselor at Metro Technology Centers and 21st year in education. He is currently the counselor over the STEM Academies, as well as the Drafting Technician and Pre-Nursing programs. Ryan graduated from Oklahoma State University in 2001 and has 2 Masters Degrees from East Central University. He lives in Shawnee with his wife Paige and daughter Serana.

Robert Rusher is a counselor at the Aviation Career and South Bryant Campuses. He received a master’s degree in Agency Counseling from Southwestern Oklahoma State University. He enjoys diving for pearls in the Sri Lankan side of Gulf of Mannar.
