Continuing education is required for CMA's. This course fulfills requirements of the Oklahoma State Department of Health. Lunch is no longer provided. Doors open at 7:30 am. Nobody will be admitted after 8 am.

CMA-Advanced: Nasogastric/Gastrostomy/Respiratory

Receive a combination of advanced training in the administration of medications and nutrition via nasogastric and gastrostomy tubes, along with administration of oral inhalers and nebulizers. Studies consist of class time and skills lab. All skill demonstrations require 100% proficiency.

CNA-I (Certified Nurse Aide)-LTC (Long Term Care)

Enter the health care field as a Nurse Aide in nursing care centers. Prepare for the LTC Nurse Aide state certification exam. Course consists of lecture, lab and clinical hours. Coding-The Certification Step

Focus on applications of coding principles learned in CPT and ICD-10 Coding. You will analyze and synthesize documents and apply ICD-10, CPT and HCPC codes based on documentation. This course will help prepare you for the certification exam. Bring your ICD-10 and CPT Coding manuals to class.

CPR/BLS

American Heart Association standard training in Basic Life Support (BLS) includes adult, child and infant CPR and obstructed airway modules. In addition, automatic external defibrillation (AED) and bag-valve-mask ventilation are taught. This course meets requirements for most health courses.

HHA (Home Health Aide) Deeming

Prepare to take the home health state certification exam. The exam fee is not included in the tuition. Those that were CNA's prior to March 1, 2012, will have a separate testing fee for the state clinical skills portion.

Public Health

Review a broad view of community and public health areas, such as changes in the US Health and Public Health care system in the 21st Century. Delve into health inequities linked to poverty, environmental health, infection control, immunizations and disease outbreaks such as meningitis for example. Unique public and community health issues facing school nurses are also considered in this course. Several exercises involve issues related to children and adolescents and the medical social "ills" they could face.
