Metro Tech to Showcase Local Businesses at Black History Month Celebration

Metro Tech to Showcase Local Businesses at Black History Month Celebration

The 2024 Metro Tech Black History Month Celebration promises to not only commemorate the rich history and contributions of the Black community but also serve as a platform for local Black-owned businesses, community resources, and more. The event, scheduled for Thursday, Feb. 15, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the District Conference Center located at 1900 Springlake Dr, Oklahoma City, is free and open to the public and vendor registration is now open.

This year's theme, "Black History Through the Decades," showcases local, Black-owned businesses, community resources, and artists while providing opportunities to join breakout sessions, sit in on a panel discussion and enjoy cultural entertainment. Khanita Jefferson, Event Coordinator and Metro Tech Student Liaison, said she looks forward to expanding the event in 2024.

"We are looking forward to providing another opportunity for local Black-owned businesses to showcase their talents and offerings to the community," Jefferson said. "This year we're introducing breakout sessions and a dynamic panel discussion. These additions will offer attendees a deeper engagement, making the celebration an even more enriching and insightful experience."

"Empowering the local workforce is at the core of what CareerTech was established to do," Metro Tech Superintendent Aaron Collins said. "We are honored to support and highlight Oklahoma City businesses and resources and provide an inclusive environment where the rich tapestry of Black History is celebrated, acknowledged and embraced."

Vendor Registration:

If you are interested in registering your business or community resource, the registration fee of a $25 gift card or an in-kind donation of equal value is due by Jan. 31, 2024.
