Metro Tech Board President Receives Outstanding Board Member Award

Metro Tech Board President Receives Outstanding Board Member Award

Metro Tech Board of Education President, Dr. Linda Ware Toure, received the Outstanding Board Member Award during the 2025 OkACTE and Oklahoma CareerTech Forum. Administered by the Oklahoma Association of Career and Technology Education, this award recognizes the contributions of technology center school board members who have provided leadership in the development and implementation of school policy.

Dr. Toure has devoted nearly four decades to public education, serving as a teacher, administrator, and in multiple executive leadership roles at the district level. Following her retirement from Oklahoma City Public Schools, she was elected to the Metro Tech Board of Education in 2016 and was appointed Board President in 2023.

"Dr. Toure exemplifies the very best of servant leadership and has consistently demonstrated unwavering commitment to the mission and values of Metro Tech," said Metro Tech Superintendent & CEO Aaron Collins. "From graduation ceremonies to student showcases, community forums, and District events—she is there, not for recognition, but because she believes in the transformative power of career and technical education."

Holding advanced degrees in educational administration and curriculum and instruction, Dr. Toure aims to inspire a new generation of leaders while upholding Metro Tech's commitment to preparing individuals for successful employment and life.

"Receiving this award is both humbling and deeply meaningful," Toure said. "When I reflect on my time on Metro Tech's Board of Education, I am most proud of the role we've played in expanding opportunities for students, strengthening community partnerships, and contributing to economic development through workforce growth. Personally, it is a reminder of the power of service and the responsibility we carry as leaders to open doors for others. Professionally, it reflects the collective commitment of Metro Tech's Board and team to preparing students for successful employment and life."

One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
