From Student to Mentor: Donminic Goosby, Automotive Service Teacher
Donminic Goosby enrolled in the Automotive Service program at Metro Technology Centers in 2007 and, shortly after completing the program, attended Pro-Tech Automotive Technology.
"I have always been interested in auto service," Goosby said. "I basically grew up in a salvage yard, so I've always been around cars. I used to like watching my uncle pull the parts off them."
After his technical education, Goosby obtained his associate's degree in automotive technology before earning his bachelor of science in general education while working in the auto service industry.
Despite his years of education and experience, Goosby was hesitant when presented with the job opportunity at Metro Tech.
"When I got the opportunity to teach Auto Service at Metro Tech, I was initially scared. I thought I would fail, but something told me to jump in," Goosby said.
Now, Goosby is taking that same inspiration and passing it on to his students who may have doubt in themselves.
"I tell them not to be afraid because everything takes practice," Goosby said. "You can't be afraid to mess up. Because you learn from your mistakes."
Not only is Goosby an official member of the "MT4Life" Family, but he has also taken his passion for CareerTech and passed it on to inspire his own family members.
"Metro Tech has always been like family to me," Goosby said. "I have a younger son who attends and a daughter who is about to graduate from the Radiologic Tech program. My oldest son also graduated last year from the Construction and Architecture program. Metro Tech can open doors for you and will support you along the way."
One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
A newly constructed nursing simulation lab on Metro Tech’s Springlake Campus is providing cutting-edge training opportunities for healthcare students.
Metro Tech’s 2025 Black History Month Celebration, “In Living Color,” will bring Black history and culture to life, honoring vibrant contributions through art and community.
