‘Black History, Western Legacy’ Event Set for February 27 at Metro Tech

Metro Tech’s 2026 Black History Month Celebration promises to be a powerful day of culture, community, and connection. The event, titled “Black History, Western Legacy,” will take place on Friday, February 27, 2026, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Metro Tech Conference Center, 1900 Springlake Dr., Oklahoma City, OK 73111. Vendor registration is open, and registrations are due by February 14.

This year’s theme honors Western Black culture and history, spotlighting the cowboys, cowgirls, trailblazers, and icons whose contributions helped shape the American West while also highlighting the future being shaped by today’s leaders and innovators. Attendees can expect live performances, guest speakers, engaging activities, local Black-owned businesses, and community resources. The event is free to attend and open to the community.

“We’re creating an experience that educates, inspires, and connects,” said Metro Tech Student Liaison and Black History Month Committee Chair, Khanita Jefferson. “This event gives our students, staff, and community the chance to engage with educational speakers, explore local vendors, and access resources that uplift Black excellence and support our local workforce.”

Vendor registration is $65 for local businesses through February 14, 2026. For more information, vendor registration, T-shirts, and more, visit www.metrotech.edu/blackhistory.

One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
