Metro Tech Counselor Named to ACTE National Fellowship Program

Metro Tech Counselor Named to ACTE National Fellowship Program

Metro Tech Counselor Leslie Cooksey has been selected to join the Association for Career and Technical Education® (ACTE) National Fellowship Program, representing the Counseling and Career Development Division. Cooksey will officially begin the one-year program in January 2026, joining a cohort of career and technical education (CTE) professionals from across the nation.

The ACTE National Leadership Fellowship Program is designed to equip CTE professionals with the leadership skills necessary to encourage active engagement in ACTE and other professional associations. The program offers participants firsthand experience in the policymaking process at the local, state, and federal levels, thereby enhancing their ability to influence laws, regulations, and public policies. In doing so, it identifies, trains, and motivates leaders who strengthen ACTE's role in developing an educated, prepared, adaptable, and competitive workforce.

“I’m honored to be selected for the ACTE National Fellowship Program,” Cooksey said. “CareerTech changes lives, and I’m excited to grow as a leader through this opportunity. I look forward to bringing back what I learn to strengthen my role as a counselor and contribute to Metro Tech’s efforts to prepare students for success in an evolving workforce.”

One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
