Metro Tech Board of Education Appoints New Member

The Metro Tech Board of Education has appointed Mario Avila to fill the position of District Seat No. 2. In July, the Board announced the vacancy and accepted applications from qualified candidates. After interviews and a selection process, Avila was officially sworn in during a Special Board Meeting on Friday, August 21, 2026, and will serve through April 2029.

“I’m honored to represent District 2 and look forward to helping make Metro Tech even more successful in the years to come,” Avila said.

Originally from Los Angeles, Avila moved to Oklahoma to attend the University of Oklahoma and founded its first Latino-based fraternity, Omega Delta Phi, which has since expanded to other universities. He also owns several businesses across the Oklahoma City metro and works in sales and marketing for Home Creations, Oklahoma’s largest family-owned homebuilder.

“Mr. Avila brings valuable business experience, an entrepreneurial perspective and a strong commitment to serving his community,” said Metro Tech Superintendent & CEO David Martin. “We look forward to his contributions to our Board as we continue expanding opportunities for our students and strengthening Metro Tech’s impact across the district.”
