Metro Tech Entrepreneurship Program students mentor 8th graders from Millwood Public Schools
Metro Technology Centers Entrepreneurship Program students prepared for an upcoming SkillsUSA competition by mentoring 8th grade students from Millwood Public Schools. Three students Metro Tech students in particular – Jon’a King, Amari Stewart and Micha Ramoz – led the community service project, which they will present state SkillsUSA competition in Tulsa April 23 - 25.
The project included designing t-shirts for the 8th graders to wear during four leadership training and mentorship sessions at Millwood; and it ended with the 8th graders presenting a project of their own. The winning team received medals and $100 cash.
Stewart - who divides her time between the Entrepreneurship Program at Metro Tech and classes at Southeast High School – said the project was fun and educational.
“We taught them everything we do to prepare for our own competition. They surprised us with how prepared they were on presentation day; they all did a great job!”
