Metro Tech Foundation Golf Tournament Fuels Student Success at Annual Golf Tournament

Metro Tech Foundation Golf Tournament Fuels Student Success at Annual Golf Tournament

The Metro Tech Foundation's 2025 DPIII Memorial Golf Tournament, held Friday, September 26, raised $22,000 to support scholarships and financial assistance for Metro Tech students.

The annual event, held in honor of Dr. Dennis L. Portis III, a former Metro Tech Associate Superintendent, brought together 21 registered teams comprised of community partners and Metro Tech Employees.

Dr. Portis, a former Metro Tech Associate Superintendent of Instruction, community leader, and golf enthusiast, first established the tournament during his tenure. Following his passing in 2016, the event was renamed to recognize his contributions to education and his commitment to student success.

Reflecting on the tournament's impact, the Metro Tech Foundation's newly appointed Executive Director, Matt Wade, highlighted how the event reflects both tradition and purpose.

“This tournament continues to honor Dr. Portis's vision of breaking down barriers for students," Wade said. "The support we receive makes a direct difference in the lives of Metro Tech students and their families."
