Halloween Spooktacular at Metro Tech Will Showcase Newly Constructed Walking Trails

The Metro Tech Community Outreach and Wellness Center is inviting the community of Oklahoma City to attend their first annual Trails and Treats Halloween Spooktacular on Monday, October 30th, 2023, on the Springlake Campus at 1900 Springlake Dr., Oklahoma City. Festivities are set to begin at 4:30 p.m. and will include a soft opening to the campus’ newly constructed walking trails, trick or treating, games, giveaways and family activities.

Construction of the trails began in 2022 with funding from the 2019 Community Bond Initiative. With a span of approximately one mile and 13 rest areas, the new walking trails are a free opportunity for members of the community to visit the campus and enjoy the scenic views it has to offer.

This event, along with the Center’s Family Fitness Saturdays and other wellness initiatives that plan to utilize the walking trails, is made possible through a partnership with the Oklahoma City Community Foundation, who awarded the Department a grant in 2022.

Those who attend the Halloween Spooktacular will also have the opportunity to explore a variety of Metro Tech programs like Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Aviation, Health Careers and more as they visit candy booths throughout the trails.

“As we prepare to open our newly constructed walking trails, we want to host a unique event that holistically celebrates and strengthens our values like family, health, community and education.” Valerie McMurry, Director of Community Outreach and Wellness said. “We are thankful for our community and partners like the Oklahoma City Community Foundation who have helped make our initiatives possible.”
