Metro Tech Health Careers Students Place First at International Competitions
Several Metro Tech adult students earned top honors at the HOSA–Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference, held last week in Nashville. The event brought together thousands of healthcare students from around the world to compete and connect at one of the most prestigious student events in healthcare education.
Placing first in the Parliamentary Procedures competition were Practical Nursing graduates Maricela and Maricely De Leon Barrios, Ngozi Echeru, Esther Pena, and Surgical Technology graduate Jessica Cifuentes. Additionally, Practical Nursing graduate Kimberly Acevedo Aguilar placed first in the Family Medicine Physician competition.
“We are incredibly proud of these students and their accomplishments at HOSA International,” said Aaron Collins, Metro Tech Superintendent & CEO. “Their success reflects the dedication of both students and instructors, and highlights our mission to prepare students for life and support workforce development in Oklahoma City.”
One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
The Metro Tech Board of Education has appointed Saul Ortiz to fill District Seat 7. Following the May 2025 meeting, the Board announced an opening and accepted applications for the vacant seat.
