IT Student Places Third at National Competition
Information Technology student places third at national competition
When 29-year old Joshua Buckley returned to school in August at the Information Technology Center (ITC), his end goal was to earn his certifications and find a job. He found himself getting more and more involved with his class, however, first being elected class president for the Business Professionals of America, then placing first in the online BPA student competition at the state level.
The first place win qualified Joshua for national competition, and he boarded his first commercial flight to Indianapolis to compete in PC Servicing & Troubleshooting.
"I was impressed with the city. Everything was within walking distance, and we had fun taking in all the sights," Joshua said.
Joshua placed third out of 50 competitors from all over the country, and also took and passed three Microsoft Technical Associates certifications while he was there.
His instructor, Dorothy Lyon-Lee, said the honor was well deserved for the Network Systems Technician with Security Emphasis student.
"Joshua has accomplished so much during his time here. He is a hard-working, very smart young man," she said.
