Metro Tech Business Technology Students Place at National Competition
Two adult students from Metro Tech's Medical and Legal Office programs placed in the top three in competitions at the National Business Professionals of America (BPA) Conference last week in Orlando.
Medical Office Technology student Nneka Ekpek placed 1st in the Medical Coding competition and 2nd in Health Administrative Procedures. Legal Office student Sharita Searcy earned 3rd place in Legal Office Procedures.
“Placing first at nationals was an incredible moment for me," Ekpek said. "It feels amazing to see all the hard work pay off, and I’m so proud to have represented Metro Tech on a national stage."
BPA is one of seven CareerTech student organizations (CTSO). It is affiliated with business and information technology education. Other CTSOs include Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA), Future Farmers of America (FFA), SkillsUSA, Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA).
One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.

More than 50 Metro Tech students earned gold, silver, and bronze medals at the 2025 SkillsUSA Oklahoma Leadership and Skills Conference in Tulsa, with several advancing to the national competition this June.
Enrollment is now open for Camp Tech Trek, Metro Tech’s hands-on career exploration camp for students ages 10 to 14. The first of four weekly sessions will kick off Monday, June 2, at the Metro Tech Springlake Campus.
