Metro Tech Students Win Gold at National Competition

Students in Metro Tech's Entrepreneurship program recently earned top three finishes at the 2026 SkillsUSA National Leadership & Skills Conference in Atlanta. The annual event is the nation's premier showcase of career and technical education, bringing together more than 18,000 middle school, high school and college/postsecondary students, instructors and industry partners from across the country.

In the Community Service competition, students Cory Bobo, J'Sean Witten and Messiah Cobbs earned gold medals and a first-place national finish for their project, "Mental Health Truth & Questions." The initiative promoted mental health awareness and access to resources through a livestream in which licensed counselors answered questions submitted by viewers.

In the Entrepreneurship Team competition, students Carlos Carreon, Joseph Langston-Fingers, Favian Rubio and Andy Sac earned bronze medals for developing and presenting a comprehensive business plan that demonstrated innovation, teamwork and entrepreneurial expertise.

"Competing against the best in the nation and earning gold and bronze medals is an extraordinary accomplishment that reflects both their hard work and the commitment of their instructor."
