Metro Tech Welcomes New District 1 Board of Education Member
Jeanean Yanish Jones took the oath of office as Metro Tech's new District 1 board member during the April 8 Board of Education meeting. Running unopposed, Jones will serve a four-year term representing northwest Oklahoma City.
Also, during this month’s meeting, District 4 Board Member Jess Eddy was appointed to fill the position of Board Clerk. Miriam Campos will continue as District 6 Board Vice President, and Dr. Linda Ware Toure will continue her term as District 5 Board President.
Jones brings more than two decades of experience in leadership, fundraising and community outreach. As the former executive director of the Health Alliance for the Uninsured, she led efforts to expand healthcare access. Now, in her corporate role at INSURICA, she helps employers offer innovative benefits that improve employee well-being.
Her passion for serving underserved communities and extensive industry experience uniquely position her to support organizations in delivering impactful, inclusive solutions.
“As Metro Tech’s District 1 board member, I’m most excited about expanding opportunities for students to gain real-world skills that lead to meaningful careers,” Jones said. “It’s inspiring to see how career and technical education transforms lives and strengthens our community.”
Jones holds a master’s degree in administration from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and a bachelor’s degree in journalism/public relations from the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She is currently pursuing a doctorate in healthy leadership from Swansea University in partnership with the University of Central Oklahoma.

One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
The Baldrige Performance Excellence Program has announced Dr. Kayleen Wichert, Metro Tech Senior Director of Instructional Quality & Workforce Engagement, as an executive member of the 2025 Baldrige Executive Fellows Program.
