New Dean of Instruction and Site Director Hired at Metro Tech

Metro Technology Centers has recently appointed a new dean of instruction and Springlake Campus Site Director. Effective this month, former Site Director, Kayleen Wichert, is now acting as dean of instruction. Hired in her place is former Culinary Arts Director at Francis Tuttle, Michele Sanders.

As a site director, Wichert supervised, evaluated and developed programs at Metro Tech including the Culinary Arts, Cosmetology, Early Childcare Education, Digital Cinema, Accounting, Graphic Design programs, and more. In her new role as Dean of Instruction, Wichert says she is looking forward to expanding her duties to supervise all site directors and support them in developing short-term and full-time programs at Metro Tech.

“I am looking forward to continuing to support Metro Tech’s vision, faculty, staff and students,” Wichert said. “I am excited for the new challenges that this position will bring.”

Not only does Wichert have 21 years of experience in education. She also holds a bachelor of arts in elementary education, a masters in educational administration and plans to obtain her doctorate of education from Southern Nazarene University in December 2023.

In addition to Wichert’s promotion, Metro Tech has hired Michele Sanders in her place. In her previous role of five years, Sanders acted as the Culinary Arts Director at Francis Tuttle Technology Centers, and before then, worked at Putnam City Schools for 10 years.

In total, Sanders holds more than 30 years of experience in education, a bachelor of science, masters of science and doctorate of educational leadership and says she is excited for the opportunity continue supporting Culinary Arts and the other programs that come with the new the position as well.

“I am looking forward to learning from a new set of leaders and having meaningful conversations about how I can best support our curriculum and students in their drive to be workforce ready,” Sanders said.

Metro Tech Superintendent, Aaron Collins, is confident that Wichert and Sanders’ combined experience and education will serve them well in their new positions.

“Both Wichert and Sanders have a great amount of experience in education and CareerTech,” Collins said. “I am looking forward to the contributions they will bring to the future of Metro Tech.”
