Post-Secondary Students Selected for Fall Oklahoma CareerTech Foundation Scholarships
Seven Metro Tech post-secondary students have been selected to receive the Fall 2024 Otha Grimes Scholarships from the Oklahoma CareerTech Foundation. A total of $3,050 was distributed among the students to help cover tuition expenses and support their career development.
Scholarship recipients include:
- Cody Martin – Aviation Maintenance
- Janeth Ibarra – Medical Assistant
- KSea Cleveland – Surgical Technology
- Hilda Olvera – Business Office Administration
- Dione Oballa – Practical Nursing
- Gabriel Becerra – Aviation Maintenance
- Holli Nguyen – Aviation Maintenance
Medical Assistant Student Janeth Ibarra said the scholarship will help her towards her career goals in the healthcare industry.
“I’m getting my basics here and plan to continue my education toward becoming a dentist or radiologist,” she said. “Metro Tech is giving me the hands-on experience I need to feel confident in my future studies and career.”
The Otha Grimes Scholarships are awarded twice yearly in honor of CareerTech Hall of Fame Inductee Otha Grimes. Grimes owned Ogeechee Farms in Fairland and was considered a pioneer in the performance testing.
One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
OKLAHOMA CITY – Metro Tech's Economic and Workforce Development Manager, Casey Rainbolt, was formally announced as President-elect of Oklahoma Women in Technology (OKWIT) at the Eighth Annual Awards Gala.
Candidate filing for the Metro Tech Board of Education District’s One and Two seats is scheduled from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, December 2, through Wednesday, December 4, 2024.
