Metro Tech Renews OSHA Alliance to Continue Workplace Safety Training

Metro Tech Renews OSHA Alliance to Continue Workplace Safety Training

In a signing event on Friday, August 1, Metro Tech officially renewed its Alliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). The district remains the state and nation’s only Career and Technology Education (ACTE) Center with an active OSHA Alliance.

Through the OSHA Alliance Program, Metro Tech collaborates with the OSHA Oklahoma City Area Office, OSHA Dallas Regional Office, U.S. Department of Labor, and the Oklahoma Department of Labor OSHA Consultation Division to use injury and hazard data to guide safety outreach and communication efforts. Since joining the Alliance in 2023, Metro Tech has integrated OSHA standards into its training for students and staff, while also leveraging Alliance resources to deliver customized safety training for a variety of industries. In 2027, the district will be eligible to become OSHA Alliance Program Ambassadors.

“The renewal of this Alliance speaks to the strength of our collaboration and our mutual goal of creating safer work environments for all Oklahomans,” said Leslie Osborn, Oklahoma Labor Commissioner. “The Alliance with Metro Tech is a national model for how educational institutions and regulatory agencies can work together to reduce workplace hazards, raise awareness, and promote a culture of safety.”

Metro Tech Superintendent and CEO, Aaron Collins, said participation in the OSHA Alliance Program is a distinction that reflects the district’s leadership in workforce training and development.

Safety training is an essential part of preparing our students and workforce partners for success in their industries,” Collins said. “Our renewed Alliance with OSHA and local divisions ensures we remain a resource for effective health and safety education in Oklahoma City.”

One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
