Metro Tech Board of Education Appoints New District 7 Board Member

The Metro Tech Board of Education has appointed Saul Ortiz to fill District Seat 7. Following the May 2025 meeting, the Board announced an opening and accepted applications for the vacant seat. Ortiz was sworn in during a special board meeting held on Thursday, June 26.

Ortiz’s previous leadership roles include vice president of finance for the Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers, as well as co-chair of logistics and chair of scholarships for the Tomas Rivera Educational Empowerment Conference. His professional experience includes positions at The Boeing Company and Tesla, Inc.

“Mr. Ortiz brings a thoughtful and community-driven perspective to the Board,” said Metro Tech Superintendent and CEO Aaron Collins. “His experience and passion for education will help shape decisions that strengthen our role in workforce development across Oklahoma City.”

An Oklahoma City Public Schools graduate, Ortiz is currently pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering at the University of Oklahoma and is expected to graduate in December 2025.

“As a proud graduate of Southeast High School, I’ve seen firsthand how Metro Tech transforms lives,” Ortiz said. “Many of my family and friends have gained valuable education and career training here, and I’m honored to help continue that legacy of opportunity and impact.”

One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
