STEM Students Place in Top 10 at State TSA Competition
OKLAHOMA CITY – Several Metro Tech STEM Academy students recently placed in top 10 in competitive events at the Oklahoma State Technology Student Association (TSA) State Conference. Top placing students will compete at the national conference in Orlando this June.
Qualifying for nationals were students who competed in the following categories:
- Riley Lindley, Computer Science – 2nd, Promotional Design
- Galilea Calderon, Sylvestre Moreno, Hurtis Deveroux, Daniel Sanchez and Michelle Torres, Pre-Engineering – 2nd, Architectural Design Team
“Our students’ ingenuity and determination were on full display,” Melody Johnson, Computer Science Teacher, said. "We’re confident they'll continue to amaze us with their brilliance at nationals.”
Other top 10 competitors included:
- JaiAniyah Ward and Rachael Coleman, Computer Science – 2nd, Comic Design Team
- Lluvia Duran, Pre-Engineering – 6th, T-Shirt Design
- Yoseline Garcia, Computer Science – 8th, Essays in Technology

The Metro STEM Academy Chapter was also recognized as a Silver Chapter of Excellence at the Opening General Session of the Conference. This honor is awarded to chapters that have demonstrated that they are successful and quality chapters through affiliation, membership, chapter management, community service, leadership, conference attendance and national service project participation and promotion.
One of the largest and most diverse technology centers in Oklahoma, Metro Tech has four campuses offering short-term, career and customized business training options. Campuses are located in South Oklahoma. City, Northeast Oklahoma City, Downtown Oklahoma City and the Will Rogers Airport.
Metro Tech has promoted several officials to various district leadership positions for the 2024-2025 fiscal year.
The Oklahoma Association for Career and Technical Education (OkACTE) Summit Conference gathers more than 4,000 professionals for professional development and recognition of significant contributions to CareerTech education across the state.
