Women’s Empowerment Symposium Slated for October 3 at Metro Tech
Metro Tech is set to host the 6th Annual Women’s Empowerment Symposium on October 3, 2024, from 9 a.m. to noon at Metro Tech’s South Bryant Campus, 4901 S Bryant Ave, Oklahoma City, 7312. The free event, titled “Work-Life Balance,” will feature speakers, workshops, and resources to support women in the community.
The symposium will begin with a panel discussion titled “The Juggling Act: Education Meets Life,” featuring experts such as Cama Watts, Business and Entrepreneurial Services Coordinator at Gordon Cooper Technology Center; Trista Shomo, Safety Director at Vincit Constructors; Ashlee Barker, Staff Attorney at Legal Aid Services of Oklahoma, Inc., and Andrea Jalaff, a top-ranked real estate agent in Oklahoma. Together, they will address women's challenges when balancing careers, personal growth, and family life.
Following the panel discussion, attendees can participate in an informative session on breast cancer awareness with Michele Lang, APRN-CNP. She will provide hands-on demonstrations to promote early detection and proactive health management.
The agenda also includes a financial empowerment session with Certified Financial Educator Sara Lorenzen, which will highlight the critical connection between financial literacy and work-life balance.
Between sessions, attendees can explore local, female-owned businesses and engage in valuable networking opportunities with other professionals.
“We’re excited to host another great symposium that will feature free resources for women in our community,” Workforce Development Coordinator and Event Director Elena Troya said. “This event embraces the power of intergenerational connections and fosters mentorship opportunities where women uplift and guide each other.”
