Self-Pay Cadets

Basic Peace Officer

The cadet must fill out application for entry into the program. Application can be found at www.metrotech.edu.
Cadets are not guaranteed a spot in the program until all paperwork is completed and turned in.
We are only accepting 24 students per academy, with preference given to those cadets who are already hired on with an agency as they are on a timeline. Aside from sponsored cadets, spots for our academy are given on a first come, first served basis. Partial applications will not secure a spot.
Those not accepted into the current academy, will be contacted for future academy opportunities unless otherwise notified by the cadet.
As a part of our program, cadets have the option to become patrol rifle and shotgun certified. Any cadet wishing to do so, must provide all necessary items, including but not limited to: a pistol, and all ammunition required for pistol, shotgun and rifle qualifications.
All cadets must participate in a safe for participation test, and PASS. The cadet must complete, and pass the test at Metro Technology Centers on the prescribed date before the start of the academy.
Must provide a copy of driver license record dated within 3 weeks of the start of academy.
Uniforms are provided in the cost of supplies.
Tuition assistance is available through the VA and FAFSA.
We have partnered with RTI here in OKC to be able to offer affordable lodging during the weeks of the academy for those students wishing to attend our program but live outside of the greater metro area.
A guide book and calendar will be given out the first day of the academy.
All cadets will be expected to maintain a certain level of fitness both mentally and physically during the academy. Therefore, each cadet must participate in an instructor led work out daily, which will last for an hour, minimum.

You may be required to participate in an interview prior to academy acceptance as a part of the entry process.

Background Check

Please email Lori Dickerson for the OSBI form that is required with your fingerprints.

Fingerprints must be sent to the OSBI for state records check and report must show no record of conviction of, ever has, nor is currently participating in a deferred sentence for a felony, crime involving moral turpitude, or a crime of domestic violence. You will need to take with you $10.00 to the Sheriff’s Office for your cards. You must take the exact amount.

You may go to the Oklahoma County Sheriff’s Office located at 2101 NE 36^th Street. Their hours are Monday-Friday 0800-1530. Please deliver your completed prints to O.S.B.I. You will need to take $19.00 with you when you take your prints to O.S.B.I. You may take either cash or a money order made out to O.S.B.I.

Drug Testing

You will need to go to the McBride Clinic located at 4901 W Reno Ave. #500, Oklahoma City, OK 405-230-9250. They are open 0700-1530 Monday-Friday. The last drug test is done at 1500hrs. You will need to tell them that you need the Metrotech CLEET Academy drug test. You will also need to tell them that you need the NON-DOT. The cost is $35.00. You may also have them do your medical physical if you choose. The cost will be $45.00 and you will need to tell them it’s NON-DOT.
