Metro Technology Centers received the Leadership in Excellence Award for 2015, the highest award for performance excellence given by the Oklahoma Quality Foundation. Metro Tech was the first CareerTech center in Oklahoma to receive the award in 2010, and since then, is the only 2-time winner. The Leadership in Excellence Award is the highest-level quality award for businesses and organizations in the state given by OQF.
Metro Tech Superintendent Dr. Elaine Stith expressed gratitude for receipt of this prestigious award.
“I appreciate our faculty and staff at Metro Tech, because without their continued support and dedication to our MetroQuest journey, this would not have been possible,” she said.
According to OQF, Metro Tech’s sustained commitment to excellence that benefits high school students, adults and employers landed them the honor of being the only 2-time award recipient.
“Of the high school students attending Metro Tech, over two-thirds are considered "at risk", which makes their mission to "prepare students for successful employment and life in a global society" all the more important. Metro Tech delivers on that mission with one of the highest completion rates in the Oklahoma CareerTech system, and innovative solutions to address the basic socio-economic needs of their student population that might otherwise hinder learning. The "MetroQuest" improvement culture is supported by a dedicated workforce of more than 300 strong, whose engagement in the purpose and mission of the organization ranks in the top 2% of benchmark comparisons,” OQF wrote when announcing the award.
Metro Tech is an Oklahoma technology school that offers free tuition to Oklahoma City Public Schools, Crooked Oak Public Schools and Millwood Public Schools students. Full-time and part-time training is offered for adult students, as well as customized Business & Industry training. For more information (405) 424-TECH.
