Agency Sponsored Cadets

Basic Peace Officer

  • The employing agency will fill out all paperwork and turn it in to CLEET just as they would with a certified officer.
  • The cadet must fill out application for entry into the program. Application can be found at www.metrotech.edu.
  • Cadets are not guaranteed a spot in the program until they are approved through CLEET. CLEET will send an acceptance email to both the director of the program and the agency head indicating approval for the academy.
  • All cadets are required to wear a training uniform. If the respective agency sending the cadet does not provide this uniform, and additional fee of $150.00 will be added to the cadet’s tuition so that Metro Technology Centers can provide one.
  • Agencies MUST provide a vehicle that is SAFE and READY to drive during LEDT. If the agency fails to do so, an additional maintenance fee of $455.00 will be added to the cadet’s tuition to cover the use of a Metro Technology Centers vehicle.
  • All cadets must participate in a safe for participation test, and PASS. Departments can administer this test, or one of equivalency, or more challenging than CLEET’s prescribed test. This test can be located on CLEET’s website. If the agency chooses to give this test to the cadet, the agency must provide a letter to the BPOC director stating that such a test has been administered and the cadet has successfully passed said test. If the agency does not wish to give the test, the cadet must complete, and pass the test at Metro Technology Centers on the prescribed date before the start of the academy.
  • As a part of our program, cadets have the option to become patrol rifle and shotgun certified. Agencies wishing for their cadets to do so, must provide all necessary items, including but not limited to: all ammunition required for pistol, shotgun and rifle qualifications.
  • A guide book and calendar will be given out the first day of the academy.
  • All cadets will be expected to maintain a certain level of fitness both mentally and physically during the academy. Therefore, each cadet must participate in an instructor led work out daily, which will last for an hour, minimum.
