Hey everyone! We hope you are having an AMAZING summer, here’s what’s been happening at Metro Tech!
To kick off the month, 14 Metro Tech students completed the first EMT Program that Metro Tech has had in more than 10 years!!

The First Annual STEM Academy Coding Camp for 6th through 8th graders.

And the FIRST Annual Made 4 Greatness Vision Youth Camp where numerous elementary and middle school students from around the area came to the camp to learn about themselves, their talents and their interests and how they can use them to achieve their dreams by making the right decisions throughout their lives.
Over at our Aviation Career Campus, we hosted over 50 middle school students for the annual Aviation Careers Exploration Camp. These students experienced numerous aviation education opportunities ranging from airplanes to helicopters to drones and even hot air balloons!
We also kicked off the Freedom School literacy camp at our Springlake Campus.
In student successes,
Six Health Careers High School Students traveled to the HOSA Future Health Professionals International Leadership Conference where Metro Tech was honored as the largest post-secondary collegiate chapter, and all six students placed in the top three in their respective categories.

Also, several our SkillsUSA Students competed at Nationals and placed in several categories, from Auto Collision, to HVAC, to Firefighter Services!
Congratulations to the students who competed and won at Skills USA Nationals 2022, you made all of us here at Metro Tech so proud.
In other news,
Our Community Outreach and Wellness Department partnered with the Lynn Institute for Healthcare Research, the OU Health Stephenson Cancer Center and the Ebenezer Baptist Church to host the Men’s Health Awareness Summit at our Health Care Careers Campus.
The Summit featured an expert speaker and cancer survivorship panel as well as cancer screening, blood pressure screenings, glucos checks, mental health resources, and oral cancer and tobacco helpline information, and several informational booths with our many healthcare partners!!
We celebrated Juneteenth at the OKC Juneteenth Music and Arts Festival where we sponsored the Educator of The Year Award, received by Head Coach of Senior Varsity High School Men’s Basketball at Del City High School, Lenny Hatchett and our Culinary Arts Program sponsored The Eating of The Greens Contest.
DICE celebrated Pride Month at The Love Transcends OKC PrideFest and we drove the Metro Tech bus in the parade!
Finally, we are excited to announce that the AMAZING Community Outreach and Wellness Department received a $30,000 grant from the Oklahoma City Community Foundation through its' #OKCGetsFit Wellness Initiative! This grant will help fund the department's newest program, the Metro Tech Family Fitness Program, which is set to launch in August! Read all about it here!
As you can see, so many great things are happening at Metro Tech this summer and even more great things are to come!
